Both Monitor 2400 and 2200 are 93% efficient
Monitor 2400 heats up to 2200 square feet; 43,000 btu
Monitor 2200 heats up to 1400 square feet; 22,000 btu
Both utilize an external fuel tank; 2200 can also use an optional capsule internal tank
Fuels for the Monitors found in different parts of the country may come under the names of Kerosenes, K1 or 1 K Kerosene, Stove Oil, #1 Fuel Oil,or Jet A Fuel with a Sulphur content of .05% max. Our company calls the fuel Stove Oil. Stove Oil does not gell in the tank below freezing. Alaska residents rely on the Monitors with the Stove Oil! Furnace Oil (Diesel #2) should not be used in the Monitor, as the Monitor does not work. Monitor uses electricity 120 volts, 60 cycles to move the fan and keep the memory program. When the tank is below the Monitor installation, lifter pumps are also available!
Easy Self Installation
Monitors are direct vented. Only a 2.5 inch hole in the wall of home for the flue pipe. It's a pipe within a pipe. Fresh cold outside air enters through the outside pipe, heats the room, and the exhaust is sent out through the inside pipe to the outdoors. (The cold air is preheated). Monitors should be installed on an outside wall of the home. Inside walls need extension kits. Four standard kits are available. The total length of either the intake or exhaust pipe should not exceed 10 feet with 3 elbows, or 13 feet with 2 elbows, or 16.5 feet with 1 elbow. Basically only 3 turns of pipe. The closer to fresh air, the better for 93% efficiency!
No Heating Ducts = Total system efficiency that can't be matched by a conventional natural gas, electric or oil furnace!
Unlike a conventional natural gas, oil, or electric furnace, the Monitor does not use any ducting. Ducting with conventional natural gas, electric, and oil furnaces typically results in 25-40% heat loss before the heat actually reaches the interior of your home. This, combined with the high burner efficiency of the Monitor, is one of the big reasons why Monitor Heaters operate so much more efficiently than a conventional system, no matter how efficient the other type of furnace is. Most "efficiency comparisons" that heating equipment salespeople show you will not take this fact into account, and do not account for the cost of duct replacement or the additional decrease in duct efficiency that occurs in just a few years after installation. The entire Monitor heating system is located within the insulated space of your house, maximizing efficiency to a level that conventional ducted furnaces can't touch. This makes the Monitor heater an excellant choice for today's new construction, because a ductless heating system means no leaky duct holes have to be punched through your home's insulation, so there is not the gradual loss in duct efficiency that typically occurs as the ducts deteriorate and begin leaking over a 10-15 year period. Be sure as you compare the costs of different heating systems that you account for duct replacements on a conventional system and the efficiency loss of the ducting system, not just the furnace.
Outside Storage Tank
The Monitor 2400 should be used with at least a 220 gallon tank. Mid- sized homes tend to use 30 to 45 gallons in a cold winter month depending on size of home, insulation, temperature run at, length you are home, how long below freezing. 275 gallons can take you through at least 8 months to 12 months. 275 gallons x 2.889 = $794.48 annual heating cost! (12/10/2008 price, delivered. Prices fluctuate, so please call for the current price.) $66.21 for 12 months or $99.31 for 8 months!
Tanks can be oval including 18 inch legs, (220 oval w/legs plus cap $495; 275 oval w/legs plus cap $530) Tank must be at least 16" above the floor of the stove to have gravity feed of fuel to the tank. Tank must be a minimum 3 feet away from flue pipe. Many of our customers are eligible for a 25% rebate of the tank and installation cost (up to $150 rebate) through the State of Oregon - Call for details!
